Bruce Mortimer is widely recognised in Southern Africa for his timeless contemporary art black and white panoramic landscapes of Namibia, South Africa, and Mozambique. The Namib desert remains his favourite source of panoramic landscapes. His landscape photographs have been exhibited throughout Southern Africa, and clients throughout the world have his art photography in their collections. He began his role as one of South Africa's trendsetting landscape photographers in 1995, when he opened the (then) only privately owned dedicated landscape photography gallery in the country, and subsequently went on to become synonymous with black and white panoramic landscapes in the region. Now based on the North Island of New Zealand, Mortimer continues with his love of black and white panoramic photography and continues to capture the landscape around him in his recognisable peaceful style, well suited to these world famous landscapes, a favourite amongst photographers. His current panoramic work can be found at www.brucemortimer.co.nz. He has further expanded his landscape art to include realistic landscape paintings which can be viewed in the contemporary online gallery www.ArtZealand.com This gallery site was created due to continued demand for his Southern African landscape photographs from previous clients, interior designers and galleries, and the purchase of unframed panoramic photographs through this gallery website makes obtaining Mortimer Limited Edition photographs even more simple than it was when www.mortimergallery.co.za (no longer active) was his only photography website. His photography has remained affordable, although it is now priced in international currency, and payment facilitated using the secure site PayPal.
Although Mortimer began his love of landscape and landscape photography seriously back in 1982 at the age of 14, and concentrated more on colour landscapes until around 1997, two years into his profession as an art photographer, he focussed on black and white panoramic work since that date. In that time, most of his photographs have been printed by hand in a traditional photography darkroom (considered amongst photographers and collectors to be still be the method with most inherent value), and the landscapes then presented as limited edition fine art panoramic photographs and displayed in top galleries and interior design exhibitions. His photography has been purchased by top companies, company directors, publishing houses and even fellow photographers.
Black and white is a very specifically photographic medium, and has the unusual characteristic of being both subtle and having high impact. Black and white photographs remain a highly timeless, contemporary and classic art choice for collectors.
