Bruce Mortimer is a widely recognised photographer in Southern Africa for his timeless contemporary art black and white panoramic landscapes of Namibia, South Africa, and Mozambique. The Namib desert remains his favourite source of panoramic landscapes. His panoramic landscape photographs have been exhibited throughout Southern Africa, and collectors of photographs from throughout the world have his landscape art photography in their collections. Bruce Mortimer began his role as one of South Africa's trendsetting landscape photographers in 1995, when he opened the (then) only privately owned dedicated landscape photography gallery in the country, and subsequently went on to become synonymous with black and white panoramic landscapes in the wider region. Now based on the North Island of New Zealand, Mortimer continues with his love of black and white panoramic photography and continues to capture the exquisite landscape around him in his recognisable peaceful style, well suited to these world famous landscapes, a favourite amongst photographers. His current black and white panoramic work can be found at www.brucemortimer.co.nz, and a new gallery website in the same style as this one is under development for the display and supply of these Southern Africa landscapes. He has further expanded his landscape art to include realistic landscape paintings (also in a panoramic style) which can be viewed in the contemporary online gallery www.ArtZealand.com This particular gallery site was created in the interim due to continued demand for Mortimer's Southern African landscape photographs from previous clients, interior designers and galleries, and the intention is that unframed panoramic photographs may be purchased through this gallery website (by contacting Bruce Mortimer directly), which makes obtaining Mortimer Limited Edition photographs even more simple than it was when www.mortimergallery.co.za (no longer active) was his only black and white photography website. His black and white photography has remained relatively affordable. Payment for photographs will be facilitated using the secure site PayPal when this site is replaced by the version currently undergoing development.
Although Mortimer began his love of landscape and landscape photography seriously back in 1982 at the age of 14, and concentrated more on colour landscapes until around 1997, two years into his profession as an art photographer, he focussed on black and white panoramic work since that date. In that time, most of his panoramic landscape photographs have been printed by hand in a traditional photography darkroom (considered amongst photographers and collectors to be still be the method with most inherent value), and the landscapes then presented as limited edition fine art panoramic photographs and displayed in top galleries and interior design exhibitions. His photography has been purchased by top companies, company directors, publishing houses and even fellow photographers.
Black and white is a very specifically photographic medium, and has the unusual characteristic of being both subtle and having high impact. Black and white photographs remain a highly timeless, contemporary and classic art choice for collectors.
